Recorded folk songs and folk instrumental music, published in 1941 in collaboration with N. Levi. Founded an orchestra of players of the kantele (a pizzicato musical instrument) now known as the Kantele State Ensemble. At the beginning of World War II, evacuated to Kirgizia with his musicians.
