In 1897-1900, Viktor Ivanovich lived in the Voronezh oblast, allegedly studied at the gymnasium. He graduated from the Tambov Teachers' Institute (1904), the Moscow Conservatory (1911).
Since 1904, Viktor Ivanovich became the singer of the Moscow Synodal Choir. Since 1907 he participated in concert activities, since 1914 he acted as a chamber singer. He was a soloist and conductor of the Moscow Bolshoi Theater Opera Studio (1918-1923). He was an Artistic Director of the Moscow Opera and Symphony Orchestra (1921-1929). He was a Professor of the Moscow Conservatory (1922-1930), Sverdlovsk Conservatory (1937-1943) and a Professor of the Gnesins State Music and Pedagogical Institute (since 1944). Viktor Ivanovich is the author of musical works, including the children's opera "At Princess Ding" (1909). He also owns the book "Orthoepy in singing" (Moscow, 1958).
