Vincenty Reut was born in Vitebsk area, lived in Mosar (Polotsk region)
Since 1839 till 1842 he was a marshalak. V. Reut collected and published Belarusian folklore. Then he used it in his
narrative poem “A Wife” (1844). V. Reut published his works and folk notes in almanacs “Niezabudka”, “Rocznik literacki”, “Rubon”. In his press articles V. Reut invoked people to develop industry in Belarus. In his poem “A Daydreamer”
(1849) he favoured Greek national liberation struggle. V. Reut favoured 1863 – 64 Revolt in Poland,
Belarus and Lithuania. As a result he got into inquest and was under police control. V. Reut left a note in
A. I. Vyaryga-Dareuski’s “Album”. In a letter to I. Legatovich Vincenty Reut told about contacts between the Belarusians
from Petersburg and T. Shauchenka.
