1912-1932 taught and worked at Moscow University. 1920-1937 co-founder and director, Institute of Pure Chemical Reagents. Did research on the reduction of sodium esters in alcohol.
Devised methods of synthesizing ethylene and diene hydrocarbons, alcohols, esters, terpenes and heterocyclic compounds. Helped to organize and develop the industry production of pure reagents in Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics. Did research on the theory and practical methods of obtaining chemically pure substances.
From 1936 member, International Standards Bureau. Published numerous in the journal“Trudy Instituta chistykh khimicheskikh reaktivov”.
