1923 graduate Higher Military Academy Courses.
While at high-school made the acquaintance of the writer Kotsyubinskiy’s son and became a revolutionary. February 1915 arrested for distributing anti-war proclamations and sentenced to eight years at hard labor. Released after 1917 February Revol.
August 1917 joined 13th Infantry Reserve Regt at Chernigov to conduct Bolshevik propaganda among the troops. Elected regt deputy to Chernigov Executive Committee and sent as deleg to 2nd All-Russian Congress of Soviets, Petrograd. Here elected member, All-Russian Centr Executive Committee.
In 1917 October Revol played active part in blocking Kerenskiy’s troops from Petrograd. January 1918 formed Ukraine Red Cossack Regt in Khar’kov. Led this regt in Partisan operations against the Germans and Hetman Skoro- padskiy and Petlyura’s troops.
1919, in operations against Denikin, expanded his regt into the 1st Red Cossack Brigade, then into 8th Red Cossack Division. November 1919 led this div in rout of White troops at Oryol. From May 1920 commanded 8th Division on Soviet-Polish Front and took part in Galician campaign.
Late 1920 expanded div into 1st Red Cossack Cavalry Corps and commanded this corps until 1924. 1924-1925 commandant, Leningrad Higher Cavalry School. 1925-1927 head, Kalgan group of Soviet military advisers in China.
Commanded cavalry in Kalgan fighting. Commanded “Revol Gendarmes” Regt in Canton and used it to crush the “Paper Tigers” revolt. 1927-1929 Soviet military attache in Kabul.
Commanded cavalry detachment sent to Afghanistan in order to restore the overthrown Ammanul Khan to his throne. 1930 Soviet military attache in Japan. 1931-1933 commander, 13th Infantry Corps in Sverdlovsk.
1933-1935 deputy commander, North Caucasian Military district. Deputy inspector of higher military training establishments. 1935-1936 deputy commander, Leningrad Military district.
Deleg at 17th CPS(B) Congress. Member, USSR Centr Executive Committee. Wrote several books on tactics, Afghanistan and Japan, etc, including his account of his experiences in China Zapiski leytenanta Aliena (Lieutenant Allen’s Notes).
August 1936 arrested by People’s Commissariat of Internal Affairs. 11 June 1937 sentenced to death together with Marshal Tukhachevskiy and others by Special Tribunal of USSR Supreme Court.

The emphasis on peaceful coexistence doesn’t mean that the Soviet Union accepted a static world with clear lines. Socialism is inevitable and the "correlations of forces" were moving towards socialism.
