He completed his Master of Business Administration from Chatrapati Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
Career
Vivekrao is the father of a renowned Indian politician Pranay Vivek Patil. He was also unanimously elected director of the Karnataka milk federation and then immediately elected unanimously as the chairman. He was also the chairman of the Raibag sugar factory and the Belgaum District Company-operative bank.
He is a Political Strongman in the state.
He has got various ministers elected under him. He also runs a chain of over 30 educational institutions in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa.
He among other things has written various novels. One of them Dawn to Dust was a best selling romantic tragedy novel in Europe and India.
A Bollywood movie (Dhadkan) was based on lieutenant

He is an elected member of the legislative council and was elected independently with a record victory margin that was the highest in the state since independence. Vivekrao is a member of the Belgaum chamber of commerce.
