Graduate of a military school.
1902, as officer in military survey corps, took part in a number of expeditions to study Southern Maritime Region. 1906-1910 explored Sikhote Alin’ Highlands. 1917 undertook expedition to Byki-Bigincn and Yan-de-Yange ranges.
1918-1926 explored Kamchatka and Komandorskiye Islands. 1927 undertook major expedition from Sovetskaya Gavan’ to Khabarovsk-on-Amur. His works combine sci accounte with descriptions of fauna and flora of explored areas.
In addition to sci expeditions engaged in organisation work and lectured at higher educational institutions of Far East. 1910-1918 director, Khabarovsk museum.
