Career
From 1915 associate professor, Saint St. Petersburg University. From 1920 professor, Tashkent University. From 1925 professor, Saratov University.
From 1931 learned secretary, Pushkin Center, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences, first publ dealt with ancient Russian lit, especially' lit of 17th Century. Also specialized in Russian populist lit, writing studies of Gleb Uspenskiy, North. Ye. Karonin-Petropavlovskiy, A. I. Ertel, etc, which contained hitherto unknown archive material.
Also studied the works of self-taught folk writers.
