Vladimir Likhtenshtadt, USSR Revolutionary.


Likhtenshtadt, Vladimir was born on December 16, 1882. Son of a high-ranking official.


Studied at Petersburg and Leipzig universities.


Involved with SR terrorist groups, 1905-1907. Took part in the assassination attempt against Prime Minister Stolypin. Sentenced to death, commuted to life imprisonment.

Inmate of Petropavlovskaia and Shlusselburg fortress prisons, 1906-1917. Released after the revolution, 1917. Joined the Bolsheviks, 1919.

Head of the Comintern Publishing Department. Volunteered for the Red Army during the Civil War, and appointed Political Commissar. Taken prisoner by the Whites and shot.
