1922 graduate Moscow Higher Technical College.
From 1921 worked at Centr Aerohydrodynamic Institute where, under the initial supervision of A. North. Tupolev, he designed aerosleighs and gliders. From 1923 directed design and construction of wings for planes from ANT-1 to ANT-20. From 1932 directed team working on design and series production of heavy multi-engined airplanes.
From 1936 chief designer, Experimental Structures Plant, Centr Aerohydrodynamic Institute. From 1940 chief designer, one of Institute’s aircraft plants. Developed methods of strength calculation and made a great contribution to the design and series production of heavy, all-metal airplanes.
