Vladimir Popov began his career after school graduation in 1968 at the age of 17. After serving in the Soviet Army (1970-1972), he entered the Economics Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University. After graduating from the university in 1978 with a diploma in economics, he spent two years studying in graduate school of the same economic faculty.
Beginning with the cooperative "Russian Furs" (1989-1990) and creating a highly profitable production, Vladimir Alekseevich organized the first model of the enterprise with "social and private property", which soon was granted permission to engage in reconstruction and capital construction together with the Moscow government. "Tema ZAO" (Close Joint-stock Company), which he has been heading since 1990, has existed for almost 30 years. Now it is one of the leading enterprises in Moscow urban development.
