Vladimir Rudometkin went to the Batumi Russian Secondary School No. 7 named after A.S. Pushkin. In 1980, Vladimir successfully passed exams at the Moscow State University of Railway Engineering (now Federal State Institution of Education "Russian University of Transport") and became a student at the Faculty of Industrial and Civil Engineering.

In 1992, he together with his friend and fellow-student Asker Kardangushev, creates a joint-stock company "Spetsstroiproekt". In the early 1990s, he acquired shares in OAO "Giprorechtrans" and joined the board of directors of this company, and in 2001 he was elected its general director.
Rudometkin is a member of the board of the Russian Society of Civil Engineers, member of the editorial board of the magazine "Rechnoi transport", he has his work published in various technical publications. He is the head of the branch of the department "Waterways and Ports" of the Moscow State Academy of Water Transport, created on the basis of OAO “Giprorechtrans”.
