In 1964 Klyuyev graduated from the secondary school of the city of Yaransk and received a referral for further studies in the physics and mathematics department, but applied to the medical faculty of the Izhevsk State Medical Institute. However, on the 4th course because of participation in the republican competitions Vyacheslav skipped the cycle of classes on skin diseases, there was the question of how to leave it for the second year of training. Then Klyuzhev decided to transfer to the chair of physical culture of the Kazan Medical Institute, as he was seriously engaged in boxing, he had a sports category. But by chance he found out about recruiting to the military medical faculty of the Tomsk State Medical Institute, where he went to study in this educational institution until 1970.
In 1995 Vyacheslav Mikhailovich defended his thesis on "Assessment of the functional state and rehabilitation of patients with coronary artery disease after coronary artery bypass surgery," and in 1999 defended a doctoral dissertation on "System of treatment and rehabilitation of patients with coronary heart disease in a multidisciplinary medical institution."
Professor Klyuyev is an academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (RANS) since 1995, currently Academician-Secretary of the Academy. He is a board member of the Moscow Scientific Society of Physicians, a member of the International Academy of Information Processes and Technologies, since 1991 had been a member of the Editorial Board "Military Medical Journal."
