Career
Began learning the art of nagauta and to play the samisen while still a child under Rokushiro Kineya II and then under the latter’s successor.
In 1897 turned professional and still continuing to study under Wafu Matsunaga III became a prominent nagauta reciter.
Succeeded to title Wafu Matsunaga IV in 1929.
Is ranked the best in his field and is noted for his sweet voice.
Has made many phonograph records and is an adviser to Nagauta Society.
