Bachelor of Arts, Yale, 1883, honorary Bachelor of Fine Arts, 1902. Began study of art at Yale School of the Fine Arts, 1878, Art Students’ League, New York, 1883. Began painting in Paris, 1884.
Worked under Boulanger, Lefèbvre, Carolus Duran and Alexander Harrison.
Continued study in Paris, with occasional intermission, until 1890. Unmarried. Painted in Brittany until 1894.
First picture exhibited at Paris Salon, 1889. Constant exhibitor at Salon, world’s fairs, and at principal American exhibitions, since 1889.
Worked under Boulanger, Lefèbvre, Carolus Duran and Alexander Harrison.
