(This study traces anti-Judaism and anti-Semitism preached...)
This study traces anti-Judaism and anti-Semitism preached by the lower Catholic clergy in villages and little towns in Germany in the 19th century. It is based on analysis of primary sources, i.e. contents of printed sermons and auxiliary works such as lexica and catechisms for students, priests, and common people. This exposure of anti-Jewish prejudices in the late 19th century constitutes the link between Catholic anti-Jewish- and Nazi ideology. Originally published in Hebrew as "The Cross and the Swastika".
