Wesley J. Smith received a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Northridge. It was followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of San Fernando Valley (currently the University of West Los Angeles).
The start of Wesley J. Smith’s career can be counted from 1975 when he was admitted to the bar in the San Fernando Valley, California. Ten years later, he abandoned the law practice and devoted himself to writing and public advocacy.
The first book, ‘The Lawyer Book: A Nuts and Bolts Guide to Client Survival’, created in tandem with advocate Ralph Nader was issued in 1986. It marked the start of a long collaboration between the authors.
Since then, Smith has authored and co-authored a number of books focused on such topics as law, human dignity, euthanasia movement, animal rights, ethics, bioethics, the morality of human cloning, and other issues. His writings have appeared in many periodicals, including The New York Times, Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, and the New York Post among others. Smith has also contributed to National Review and The Weekly Standard.
