Whitney Irving Eisler

Background

Eisler was born on the twenty-second of October, 1873. Louis Eisler was his father and Marie Bulwer was his mother. In 1893 Whitney Irving arrived in China. Most of his life he lived and worked in Shanghai.

Education

He got education at a Public School in New York and served in U. S. Naval Service.

Career

He was a Lieutenant in U.S.N. at Spanish-American War. Also, Eisler served as a Lieutenant Commander in U.S.N. at Great War.

Achievements

• Whitney Irving Eisler supervised building of 4 ships at Kiangnan Dock, Shanghai, for U.S. Shipping Board: he commanded U.S.S. “ Aberenda ’’ on China Station during China Revolution. In 1912 he resigned U.S. Naval Service.
