Book, William Henry was born on July 4, 1863 in Craig County, Virginia, United States. Son of Henry L. and Mary E. (Elmore) Book.


Father killed in Pickett’s charge, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Educated Milligan College, Tennessee.


Ordained ministry Church of Christ, 1882. Three pastorates in Virginia, and evangelistic work at Washington, District of Columbia, Baltimore, Richmond and other cities.

Pastor Tabernacle Church of Christ, Columbus, Indiana, 1905-1925. Now general evangelist for the Churches of Christ. Trustee Butler College.

Also trustee Mountain Mission School, Grundy, Virginia. Director McGarvey Bible Seminary, also of the Home Finding Association, Louisville. Honorary member Eugene Fields Literary Society.
