Studied at Colombo Academy and St. Thomas’ College.
Secretary of the Consistory of the Dutch Reformed Church, Colombo, 1899-1904. Was instrumental in raising part of the large sum required for the restoration of Wolvendaal Church, the oldest Protestant church in Colombo, and one of the most interesting monuments of Dutch rule in the island. Imperial Service Order 1906; Principal Clerk of the Executive and Legislative Council Branch of the Secretariat, Ceylon.
Spouse 1877, Annie, daughter of late H. R. Fretz, Superintendent Military Orphan Boys’ Asylum, Colombo.
