William Goodwin

Background

William was born on October 25, 1943, in Tyler, Texas, United States. He is the son of Willis Thad (a manager) and Olga (an accountant; maiden name, Francis) Goodwin.

Education

William studied at the University of California, Los Angeles and received a Bachelor of Arts (with honors) in 1967. He also finished the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Master of Science in 1969; also attended the University of California, San Diego.

Career

William started to work as a high school science teacher at U.S. overseas schools in Brazil, Kuwait, and Iran during 1969-73. He served as a captain and navigator of private vessels, including sailing yachts, based in San Diego, California during 1974-94.

In 1991 he wrote Introduction to Management and Bareboat Charter Checklist. From 1994 he worked as a freelance writer. Besides, he was a founder and director of Sailing Solution, Inc. (boating and navigation school) during 1986-92. He was a reporter at San Diego Independent Community Newspaper Group, between 1992 and 1995.

In 1997 he prepared two books Teen Violence and Touchstones for a New Millennium: Ground Rules for Working Relationships. William worked as a curriculum development writer at Allegra Learning Solutions from 1998.

Achievements

• William Goodwin is known as the author of such popular works as Teen Violence, Mexico, India, Saudi Arabia. He also is a contributor of several hundred articles to periodicals, including Western Boatman, Sailing, Santana, H20 and Maintenance Repair Operations Today.
