William Mastrosimone attended The Pennington School and studied at Tulane University from 1966 to 1970. He attended Rider University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974. He also studied at Rutgers University where he received a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1976.
After graduation, William Mastrosimone started to write plays and scripts. His first play, The Woolgatherer, premiered at Rutgers Theatre Company in New Jersey in 1979 and was published in 1981. His next play, Extremities, was published in 1984. Other plays include Shivaree, Cat's Paw, The Afghan Women and Nanawatai, upon which a film The Beast is based. Mastrosimone wrote a script of Bang Bang You're Dead, which was once able to be downloaded from the Internet and performed by students for free. He wrote scripts for such movie as With Honors and TV-series Into the West.
William Mastrosimone is an American playwright and screenwriter who is famous for his plays The Woolgatherer, Extremities, and Nanawatai. He won the Los Angeles Drama Critics’ Circle Award in 1982 and in 1983 he received the John Gassner Award from Outer Critics’ Circle and Outer Critics Circle Award.
Mastrosimone received two Daytime Emmy Awards for Bang, Bang You're Dead in 2003. He was nominated for a Prime Time Emmy for TV-series Into the W.
