Career
He was the author of A Code for Classifiers in the period 1912-1939, and connected to the American Library Association. He was also a scholar on Vinland. His book A Code for Classifiers is still under scrutiny in the field of information studies.
He wrote extensively on the Norse discovery of Vinland, and on the scholarship surrounding these studies.
His article The Vinland Problem Through Four Centuries (1935) is a review of available theories about Thorfinn Karlsefni"s voyages and the Saga of Erik the Red.
