William Pellicone was born on April 12, 1915, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. He was the son of Italian immigrants from Calabria, Emilio and Amelia Practico Pellicone.
William was a self-taught beginner who received scholarships to Temple Univesity, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and Philadelphia's famed Barnes Foundation.
William was a merchant marine during World War II and a four-year farmer in Pennsylvania for New York City, where he became known as a painter for his works done with paint and fire.
Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts gave him his first exhibition. He exhibited with the Allan Stone Gallery, New York, among others.
William was married twice. In July 1964 he married Marle Guzzette. The couple divorced in 1992. On August 5, 1992, he was married to Ilka Bartel.
