After a practice during several decades, in 1930 Mr. Austin retired to his home at Cambridge, Mass., and devoted his remaining years to the compilation of a history of the Boston Society of Architects. During the early part of his career he designed and laid out many of the public parks in Boston, while his most recent executed commission was the Administration Building at the East Boston Airport.
A member of the Boston Society of Architects, A.I.A. since 1900, and a former president of the Society, Mr. Austin maintained a deep interest in its affairs until the time of his decease.
