Quotations:
"My primary motivation for writing is similar to Edmund Hilary’s reason for conquering Mount Everest. I write because something needs to be written. I have written about both library science and music history, generally tackling underappreciated or undercovered areas, and/or taking an unconventional path. I seldom spout the ‘official dogma’ of the fields in which I write, and in many ways I am an independent and a maverick. Yet I march to the only drummer I have ever heard. Ideas for articles and books come easily, and my writing emerges naturally, often sprinkled with humor, anecdotes, and irony. I have often offered ideas to others, in part because I can’t write everything. I have a strong determination in spite of lifelong, genetic, neurological disorders that affect my speech, hearing, mobility, and perception."
