Written by an international team of experts, this text examines the part played by the globalization of production together with the associated impacts and responses. Theoretical debates are explored with new concepts for understanding the internationalization of production. The text is divided into four parts, the first two examine the processes underlying the globalization of production systems. In this section, key theoretical and conceptual frameworks are highlighted. The second two explore the responses to the globalization of production systems. These refer to economies at different stages of economic development, global and local interaction, the restructuring of metropolitan economies and the development of trade blocs.
