For fifteen years, he worked with John Z. DeLorean, the maverick automotive engineer who designed the highly successful, sporty Pontiac GTO, the first of the “muscle cars”, and later tried to launch his own sports car venture, the DeLorean Motor Company. Haddad left DeLorean Motor Company shortly before it failed; DeLorean was later arrested, tried, and acquitted of drug dealing in a highly publicized case. In "Hard Driving: My Years with John DeLorean", Haddad, presenting himself as a reluctant whistle-blower, ignores the drug Matter and instead tells the behind-the-scenes story of the failed company.
