Bachelor of Arts, Carthage (Illinois) College, 1883. Studied theological course Hamma Division School, Springfield, Ohio. Doctor of Divinity, Wittenberg College, 1905.

Career

Seaman at 15 and sailed before the mast for 3 years. Came to the United States, 1873. Ordained Evangelical Lutheran ministry, 1884.

Pastor Liberty, Illinois, 1883-1891, Saint Paul’s Church, Davenport, Iowa, 1891-1916, Newton, Iowa, 1918-1937.

Now pastor emeritus. President Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Iowa 2 terms: trustee Carthage College, 1895-1915, 34-45, president of the board 10 years, member Executive Committee 1937-1940, member emeritus since 1945. Delegate to National Synod many times.

Member International Sunday School Executive Committee, 1892-1893. Ex-president Iowa State Sunday School Association.

President Civic Federal of Scott County, Iowa, 1908-1915.
