Entered 7th Dragoon Guards, 1881. Served in Egypt, 1882, present at actions of El Magfar, Malisamali, Tel-el-Mahuta, Kassassin, and battle of Tel-el-Kebir (medal and clasp, Khedive’s star). Burmese Expedition, 1886-1889 (medal and two, clasps).
Commanded 7th Dragoon Guards and latterly a column in South African War, 1900-1902, including actions of Houtnek, Vet River, and Zand River. Also actions near Johannesburg, j Pretoria, Diamond Hill, and Belfast (despatches twice, Queen’s medal with five clasps, King’s medal with two clasps, Brevet Colonel). Retired; late Colonel in charge, Cavalry Records, and Staff Officer for Imperial Yeomanry.
