Bought Amsterdam Recorder and consolidated with Democrat, 1893.

Now, in company with son, Gardiner, publisher Evening Recorder and SemiWeekly Recorder Democrat. Vice president Montgomery Company Trust Company, Amsterdam Savings Bank.

Postmaster, Amsterdam, 1877-1885. Vice-president Amsterdam Free Library.

Trustee Home for Elderly Women.
