Began with New York City News Association, 1904. Joined staff New York Times, 1907, later going to London office of same paper as special correspondent. Editorial charge of Hearst newspapers and news agencies in Europe, 1912-1916.
Resigned to engage in war work, first with British Ministry of Food and later as official British representative in Paris of Inter-Allied Wireless, under Ministry of Information, until close of war.
Literary editor Philadelphia Public Ledger, 1921-1926, also editor Literary Review, New York Evening Post, 1924-1926. Writer weekly literary column “An Attic Salt Shaker,” since September 1921, widely syndicated.
