Studied at Magdalen College School, Oxford. Clifton College; Doctor of Medicine.
Went to the London Hospital, E., and took his degree at Durham University. Doctor of Medicine; passed Bachelor of Medicine with honours. Was House-Surgeon and House-Physician London IIosp.
Entered the Indiana (United States.) Medical Service, 1886. Served with troops for two years, then went into civil employ. Served on Lord Roberts’ staff, 1890.
Became Civil Surgeon of Quetta, Baluchistan. His services were lent to the War Office, 1900. And he joined Lord Roberts in S. Africa as Surgeon to Headquarters staff (despatches,Queen’s medal, 5 clasps, Companion of St. Michael and St. George).
Returned to England with Lord Roberts. Decorated for services in South Africa. C. M.G. 1900; Indian Medical Service; Superintending Surgeon Kashmir State Hospitals since 1901.
Member Royal College of Surgeons. Club: United Service, Simla.
Spouse 1896, Anne Vaughan, y.daughter of W. H. Darby of Leap Castle, King’s Co., Ireland.
