Employed by the late Lord Sackville, when British Minister at Buenos Ayres, in his expedition exploring upper waters of River Plate. Received thanks of Admiralty for several small services, especially for monograph on malarial fevers. Decorated for Gambia Expedition (slightly wounded, despatches).
