In 1889 William Sacheus received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pontypool College, Wales. In 1892 he obtained a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Yale University in 1892, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1895. In 1929 Morgan gained a Doctor of Sacred Theology degree from the Pacific Unitarian School for Ministry.
From 1895 to 1899 William Sacheus Morgan was a pastor at Greenport Church in Long Island, New York. From 1899 to 1900 he was an assistant pastor at Madison Avenue Church in New York. From 1890 to 1900 Morgan served as a professor of logic and psychology at Amity Theological School in New York.
In 1900 he joined the Unitarian Church. From 1900 to 1906 he was a pastor at the Unitarian Church in Derby, Connecticut, and at First Church, Albany, New York. He was a professor of philosophy and psychology of religion and secretary of faculty at Pacific University.
From 1910 to 1941 Morgan worked at the School for the Ministry, Berkeley, California, and a Cutting professor of philosophy emeritus since 1941, also an acting dean from 1924 to 1925, acting president later president of the board of trustees from 1931 to 1932. From 1932 to 1941 he was a president of the Pacific Unitarian School for the Ministry. From 1925 to 1926 he traveled and studied in Europe.
From 1894 to 1895 he was a lecturer in history of philosophy at Yale University. In 1915 Morgan was a Carnegie Foundation lecturer at the University of Oregon Summer School. In 1910 he was a president of Pacific Coast Conference at Unitarian Church Investigated European municipalities.
William Sacheus Morgan was a member of the American Philosophical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Association for the United Nations, Yale Alumni Association, the Society for Religious Culture, Mark Twain Society, English-Speaking Union, Pi Gamma Museum.
