Began missionary work in Africa, 1895. Partially reduced Kikamba language to writing. Organized Friends’ Africa Industrial Mission, 1900-1902.

Reduced Bantu Kavirondo language to writing. Traveling secretary Student Volunteer Movement for Foreign Missions, among colls. of America, 1902-1903. Founded Lumbwa Industrial Mission, 1905.
