He participated in the Great Patriotic War. Commander of the gun of the 1840th anti-tank artillery regiment (38th Army, 1st Ukrainian Front). Distinguished in the battles of the village of Shevchenkovka (Vasilkovsky district of the Kiev region) in November 1943. Senior sergeant Agafonov died in the battle for the outskirts of Warsaw - Prague.
