Yamada Choji was born on 1908 in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan.
Yamada Choji served as reporter of Jiji Shimpo (newspaper) and Nagoya Shimbun (newspaper). Later became chairman of Tochigi Prefectural Chapter of Musanto (Proletarian Party) (1937) member of Central Executive Committee of Socialist Party (1945), chief secretary of Tochigi Prefectural League of the same party (1949) and chairman of the same league, member of Control Committee of Japan Farmers' Union and director of Nitchu Yuko Kyokai (Japan-China Friendship Association) (1952). The same year was elected to House of Representatives. Re-elected (1953) and served as member of Standing Committees for Construction and Audit and also member of Control Committee of Left-Wing Socialist Party. Held additional post of chief director of Nihon Hoso Jigyo Remmei (Japan Broadcasting Business League).
