Yamatonojo Takemoto was born in 1702. He was the son of Takumi-Ridayii Takemoto.
He was a disciple of Miwadayu Toyotake and was allowed to call himself by the name he is remembered today (1751).
Yamatonojo Takemoto followed his father's footsteps and became a professional Gidayu reciter during the Edo Period. He was first seen on the stage of the Takemotoza and later joined the Toyotakeza Theater.
