Yasuji Kamada was born in Tokushima Prefecture.
Im 1908 Kamada Yasuji graduated from Kyoto University.
After graduating, Yasuji Kamada was appointed professor at Tokyo Art School (1910). Twelve years later was transferred to Tokyo Higher Polytechnical School (1922) and taught photography there till its closure shortly after end of World War II. When the Tokyo Short-term Photographic College was founded he became its first president (1950).
Besides teaching photography at Government and private institutions, he helped establish the Japan Photographic Society and for 20 years has been closely associated with it.
