Yoneji Yamamoto graduated from Law Department of Tokyo University (1925).
Yoneji Yamamoto entered Bank of Japan. Went to England as assistant to auditor of London Branch Office (1936). Returned home (1925). Sent to Germany as councilor stationed overseas (1941) and the same year was appointed director of Basel International Settlement Bank as deputy of Governor of Bank of Japan.
Yoneji Yamamoto became chief of Research Bureau of Bank of Japan and chief of its Statistics Bureau (1945) and manager of Nagoya Branch. He was appointed director of the bank and then served successively as member of Foreign Exchange Control Committee and vice-director of Economic Stabilization Board. Chairman of Nagoya Sago Ginko (Nagoya Mutual Financing Bank). Appointed Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Finance (1954).
