Yonejiro Noguchi became a disciple of Joaquin Miller, an American poet, and came under the influence of Edgar Allan Poe.
Yonejiro Noguchi went to London, where he published "From the Eastern Sea" which made him famous. Returned to Japan (1904), published "Summer Clouds" in Japan (1905) and "Pilgrimage" in London (1906). He became professor of English literature of Keio University. Went to Britain (1913) and lectured on Japanese poetry at Oxford University. Also wrote poetry in Japanese and books on Japanese artists including Hiroshige Hokusai, Utamaro and Korin.
