Yonekichi Shirahase was born in 1887 in Kyoto, Japan.
Yonekichi Shirahase graduated from Kyoto Kenshi Yoseijo (Kyoto Silk Spinning Research Institute) and then studied at Hosei University.
Yonekichi Shirahase entered Gunze Seishi Kaisha (Gunze Silk Manufacturing Company) (1920) and served as its plant super-intendent and director and also as director of Nihon Cellulose Industry Company, managing director of Nihon Kenshi Tosei Kaisha (Nihon Silk Manufacturing Control Company), member of Chuo Kenshikai (Central Sericultural Society) and official of several other sericultural companies and organizations.
Elected to House of Councilors (1951) and served as member of Executive Board of Liberal Party and vice-chairman of the same party also becoming chairman of Ryoin Hoki Iin (Legislation Committee of Both Houses) (1953).
He toured U.S.A. inspecting silk industry there. President of Gifu Boseki Kaisha (Gifu Spinning Company).
He holds additional posts of chairman of Kobunshikai (High Polymer Industry Society) and director of Nihon Shokusan Kogyo Kaisha (Nihon Production Industry & Industrial Promotion Company).
