Yoshichiro Shimizu was born In Toyama Prefecture in 1885.
He graduated from Engineering Department of Tokyo University in 1908.
In 1908 Yoshichiro Shimizu became engineer of Electric Experimental Station of Communications Ministry and studied in Europe and America.
He transferred to Toshiba Company in 1918 and ultimately became its vice-president in 1943. The same year he became director of Yomiuri Shimbun. He was appointed director of Yomiuri Kogyo Kaisha (Yomiuri Industnal Enterprise Company) in 1947, director of Radio Tokyo Broadcasting Company and then senior managing director of Nihon Television Network Company.
