The records say that when Yoshimitsu brother appealed for help in his battle against Takehira and Iehira Kiyohara, he hurried to Oshu (northeastern Japan) to render help and also took along the Hashirimaru with him but when he reached Osaka-no-Seki he returned the instrument to his master fearing that it may be damaged in the forthcoming battle. Another record says that he was accompanied as far as Osaka-no-Seki by Tokiaki, the son of Tokimoto, who wanted to learn the secrets of music which the father had taught him.
Was said to have been very fond of music and learned to play the sho from Tokimoto Toyohara and later the latter presented him with his famous sho instrument named Hashirimaru.
