Background

Yoshimori Ise was born in Ise, Mie, Japan.

Career

Early in life was sentenced to prison for killing his uncle. After being pardoned, settled in Aramaki Village (Gumma Prefecture) and became a highwayman. Now it so happened that Yoshitsune Minamoto once had occasion to put up at his house for the night and saw in Yoshimori a capable person, so he made him one of his retainers. When Yoshitsune was about to be driven out of Kinki District by Yoritomo, Yoshimori returned to Ise and attacked Tsunetoshi Shudo, Governor of Ise, but was repulsed. He fled to Mt. Suzuka, where he committed suicide.
