He graduated from Tokyo English Language School (1910).
Yoshio Terao served as senior managing director of Osaka Bus Company and president of Washizu Aviation Company and Hachioji Aircraft Company and executive of several other companies.
He became director (1947) and then president of Toho Bussan (Trading) Company (1948). He was appointed director of Rikkyo (St. Paul's) University (1951). He was also chairman of Kongo Seisakujo (Manufactory) Company.
He held several additional posts including that of director of Nihon Engyo Kyokai (Japan Salt Industry Association).
