Yoshisaburo Matsukata

Background

He is the 13th son of the later Prince Masayoshi Matsukata.

Education

He graduated from Kyoto University in 1922.

Career

He worked in the East Asia Economic Research Bureau of the Manchurian Railway Corporation; entered the Shimbun Rengosha (news agency) in 1934 and later became managing director of the Manchoukuo News Agency.

After the end of the war, returned to Japan and with the dissolution of Domei News Agency, and establishment of Kyodo News Agency in 1945, he became managing director and concurrently director of the Editorial Bureau.

In 1949 he became senior managing director. Authority on mountain climbing.
