Yoshitaka Komatsu studied at Waseda University. After graduation in 1928, Yoshitaka proceeded to England for further study and specialized in socio-economic history.
Returning home in 1942 Yoshitaka Komatsu was appointed professor at his alma mater and placed in charge of teaching Western economic history. Yoshitaka made a special study of the collapse of English feudalism. Yoshitaka Komatsu was a linguist, conversant with English, German, French, Chinese, Italian, Russian, Greek and Latin languages. He also was a director of the Academy of Socio-economical History.
