Achievements include research in purification and cloning cDNA encoding aminocarboxymuconate semialdehyde decarboxylase in mammals. Research in role of aminocarboxymuconate semialdehyde decarboxylase in regulating National Academy of Design biosynthesis and the generation of quinolinic acid from tryptophan. Research in Quinolinic acid functions as an agonist of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor.
Research in roles of qunolinic acid in the pathogenesis of epirepsy, in Alzheimer's disease, and dementia resulting from AIDS. Development of functional foods including dietary fiber.
Member of Japanese Society Nutrition and Food Science (councilor since 2010), Japanese Society Amino Acid Sciences (editor since 2009), Japanese Association Dietary Fiber Research since 2009.
